Concept
Stitched Vintage Wallpaper Designs
Sourcing vintage wallpapers from markets to charity shops, ranging from acid flocks to floral patterns, Claire cuts, layers and machine stitches these papers together to create a range of different scenes and illustrations.
Stitching together various textures and patterns creates an intricate and layered effect within her designs, where it appears that the pattern of these papers begins to grow and come to life.
‘Absolutely beautiful hand-sewn panels of wallpaper that have an ethereal quality, thanks to the delicacy of the stitching and emotive patterns. Just one panel transforms a room’ Elle Decoration
Ceramic Collection
Claire’s collection of porcelain slip cast tea sets evoke a reminiscence to times forgotten, exploring the loss of the British tradition ‘afternoon tea’. Each cup and saucer is either intricately hand embroidered or inlaid with patterns of doilies and flocked wallpaper. It appears as if these patterns have grown into the surface of the porcelain causing the natural shape of the cup and saucer to distort, The loose stitching and faded traces of patterns create an ethereal and poignant quality of decay within each piece.
